A case of hyperthyroidism treated with Kanpo Medicine and Acupuncture

Objective

Case history suggests that Kanpo Medicine and Acupuncture can be a quick and effective treatment for hyperthyroidism caused by thyroiditis.

Material and methods

A case history of a 33-year old woman with a two year history of recurrent attacks of autoimmune thyroiditis. Treatment independently controlled by the University Hospital of Copenhagen (Rigshospitalet). Treatment methods were Kanpo Medicine and Acupuncture. No allopathic medicine was used.

Results

A complete cure was obtained both symptomatically and biochemically. The patient has been in remission for more than one year.

Conclusion

The result suggests the possibility of treating hyperthyroidism with Kanpo Medicine and Acupuncture. In this case the patient recovered quickly and completely. She could avoid radioactively based diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
