Objective

Effects of homoeopathic therapy in general medicine cannot be satisfactorily validated in the setting of traditional studies. We propose a textual model of reading the homoeopathic remedy as a possible agent of meaning in the therapeutic interactions on an psychodynamic level.

Materials and methods

One consultations (3 1/2 years child, her mother) featuring homoeopathic anamnesis for single remedy choice from EUROCOM-documentation 1997 was chosen for microanalysis. Video and transcript were treated following the method of “objective hermeneutics” (OEVERMANN).

Results

Structural hypothesis by the evaluation group interpreted the child’s sleeping and eating disorders as a focus of the parents separation after her birth. Before given remedies and the chosen “Silicea” can be read as patterns parallel to dyadic and triadic processes in the family and in the doctor-child-mother artificial triad, especially finishing the child’s treatment with “Silicea” by the father after his return to the family.

Conclusion

One may discuss an interactive mechanism of the homoeopathic simile in pharmacosemiotic terms as an “ikon” (v UEXKÜLL) or in psychodynamic terms as a “container” (BION).
