Here is another very good reference book on dietary supplements. It is constructed in the form of 72 monographs ranging from aloe vera to zinc. Each monograph provides information regarding description, constituents, action, possible uses, precautions, adverse effects, interaction, dose and references. The information is concise, user-friendly and (mostly) up to date. My only criticism of this book is that I fail to understand the choice of the 72 supplements included. They comprise a bewildering range of (few) herbal remedies, trace elements, minerals, vitamins and anything in between. In a way, this highlights the diversity but also the lack of sense governing the category of ‘dietary supplements’.
