‘Macer Floridus’ was the most popular text on herbal medicine during the middle ages. It has therefore enormous historical value. The book has not been available for a long time but has now been republished. The book contains the original Latin verse and a modern translation into German. It covers 85 medicinal plants popular in the middle ages. Some are no longer in frequent use but most are still important today. The book is supplemented by several original plant drawings of stunning beauty and simplicity. Anyone with a serious interest in herbal medicine and who reads either Latin or German will find the volume a true treasure.
