The Quotable Osler

Sir William Osler (1849–1919) was not only one of the greatest physicians of his time, he was also a prolific writer of medical and educational texts. This book is a compilation of citations from his writings. For people like myself who like quotations, this book is a treasure. Osler’s citations are ordered according to topics and one can thus easily find something fitting for most purposes. There are, of course, many quotes that also pertain to CAM. Here are three of my favourites: ‘The greater the ignorance the greater the dogmatism’, ‘The philosophies of one age have become the absurdities of the next, and the foolishness of yesterday has become the wisdom of tomorrow’, ‘Care more particularly for the individual patient than for the special features of the disease.’
